So. I thought it’s a bit overdue for an update. I haven’t talked a lot about my love for cycling so I figured a good starting point is a bit about myself and my bike.
So I got my first real ten speed about three or four years ago. It was an early 70s takara. I rode the shit out of it.
I moved onto a centurian conversion and when my girlfriend bought me my current frame I got thrown into a whole new world it seems like.
Currently I’m riding an FBM Sword. FBM cross 43t chainring. 165 profile cranks and bb. 16t surly cog. Origin8 cages and straps. Felt seat and stem. Tekro lever and shimano 195 brake. Reynolds ouza pro fork. Low end mavic front wheel and hub and a velocity back wheel with a formula hub.
Overall. I’d say this bike is great for commuting and had a great feel and geometry for someone of my body type especially (stumpy). It was designed as a commuter. Not a track bike so I don’t plan on taking it to the drome. But it’s light. Has a stiff back end. And the carbon fork makes for snappy response without being too flimsy.
This being my first real bike and not a conversion. I don’t have the most educated opinion. But it feels good to me.
I’m looking into a new front wheel and changing up my crankset for a three piece system to a spider or a spline. We will see. Any advice or options in the 46t range is always appreciated.
